I have a Verizon GS3. I know ow I have to contact them before travelling to "unlock" it and allow it to be used outside the USA. Has anyone used their phone abroad?

The gs3 with the latest update is sim unlocked. It has a locked apn, so you would need root to change the apn if you need data

All you have to do is call verizon global support and if your account is in good standing, they will unlock the device for you to use on either digicel or Lime.

I am not rooted but I was under the impression you could call and they would unlock it for you.

Again the s3 on the latest update is sim unlocked. If you want, you can call, but they will tell you the same thing. You can also test it by getting a tmo sim...
