Question What's This Facebook Notification?

I don't use social media but I've had to open a Facebook account.

I've had a play around with it but I have no idea what the notifications are on the left of the attached image. When you tap on it the page refreshes with no further info.

This is on the mobile browser, not the app, if anyone can help?

It's probably Facebook nagging you about friend requests or people you might know type of BS. Feel free to ignore it.

The thing is when I log on there may be 0, 2, 3, 5 etc notifications showing. It's just weird when you tap on it the page refreshes and they disappear with no further info.

It doesn't bother me as such but it just annoys me not knowing what they're for.

In that spot, it's basically the number of new posts on your feed since you last visited.

That's why it goes away after a refresh. Nothing new since the second you refreshed it.
