where did the second LED come from??

just loaded gingerbread CY07 on my Evo. It was sitting on the charger so the orange LED was lit. A message came in, and to my surprise a second LED (right side of earpiece) lit up green.

I have never seen the second LED before - was it never programed into 2.2?

I noticed the same thing. For whatever reason, 2.2 with Sense was not using it. I did notice on a friends Droid 2 that his has the green LED and it is used. I guess HTC just didn't use it.

There is actually an app (wimax notifier) that allows you to use that for messages, etc. I think it's in the market......

the evo came with a second LED light for the wimax radio. to show when there was wimax signal available and in use.

htc never enabled it. why? i dont know.

if you look for some old specs .. you can find it mentioned.

some devs decided to use it for notifications.. which is very helpful!

I've had that app for a while now - I love it. I guess the Cyanogen folks decided to include the functionality in their latest build, which is neat!

Search for Wimax notifier on the XDA forums should you require additional information.

Yup - beat me to it. I played with it for a while, but it was a bit of a battery drain (the app, not the light itself)
