Why aren't my pictures organized in apps anymore?

[Android Central Question]

When using apps like Facebook, Messenger, or Snapchat I used to be able to sort through my pictures by album when I was sending things. As of about a month or two ago, all my pictures in apps now just appear in the same massive folder with an odd load order. How can I restore the ability to sort through my pictures by album from other apps?

The original albums still exist as separate folders in my files, and no settings have been changed.

Unfortunately, that is a feature (or not) of the app you are using.
Snapchat does not let you browse your albums/folders.
Instagram does let you browse your albums/folders.
