For some reason, my brand new Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge has screen burn. I can clearly see red icons burnt into the screen, and there is even a thin, white line extending from the center of the screen to the right edge of the screen that never fades away. How is this possible if the phone is brand new? It just does not make sense.

It means the phone is not brand new and is, in fact, used. If this was sold to you as new, it's possible you've been scammed. Hopefully you can get a refund on it. I'm also going to go out on a limb and guess this wasn't bought through an authorized retailer, which means you wouldn't have any warranty (the warranty period would've started when first purchased from an authorized retailer, not resellers). If you can't get a refund, your only solution is to either live with it or pay out of pocket for a screen replacement.
