Why have i got 3 instances of text message open in background?

I was messaging one of my contacts when I noticed that in the background this text message thread had three instances?

I noticed 3 instances of the same text messaging thread to the same contact open in the background on my Samsung phone. How is this possible?

This has never happened before so I was wondering what the issue could be?

It'd really help to see a screenshot of the issue -- keep an eye on it and if it happens again, make sure to screenshot it and show it here.

That's most likely a glitch , can try to clear One UI launcher but then have to set your home screen up again

I'm not entire tech retard but what would that entail? Would I lose apps I've downloaded also? WhatsApp etc?

No it wouldn't delete apps but if you have your home screen set-up a certain way it would delete those and add apps ,folders , widgets back to it .

OK, so how do I go about clearing One UI, sorry for all the questions and thank you for your assistance!

Go to settings>apps>scroll and find home One UI launcher then tap clear data and force stop

Will that wipe the homescreens, so they'll have to be set up again? Or can that be restored from the Samsung account?

Samsung cloud and smart switch pc does back them up but not Nova you would have to make nova back up separately, i didn't mention back up to restore Incase it would be corrupted better to set-up again fresh
