Why won't my PC see any files on my moto g 3rd gen

[AC Question]

I have just bought a motorola moto G 3rd gen 16GB, and successfully transferrred files from my old phone and updated to Android 6. When I connect to my PC(windows 10) the phone is recognised in File explorer but says all files are empty. I have no micro SD card fitted yet.
