Will charging my galaxy s6 overnight harm or lessen the life of the phone?

I just got a Samsung galaxy s6 phone, and was told not to charge it overnight. Will this damage the phone?

Hi and welcome to AndroidCentral.

I've charged every single smartphone I've ever owned overnight when I go to bed, and I've never had any battery problems.

No it will not harm your phone. It will regulate itself. It's been said it's a good idea to use a normal usb charger in place of the included fast charger of you plan on keeping it plugging in all night.
