X2 and Skype Mobile

Forgive me for sounding like an (Android) newb... but thats what I am. This is my first Android phone after converting from RIM BB.
So if the debate over whether or not the mystery circle on the X2 is an FFC or not, then why does the phone come pre-installed with Skype Mobile? Wouldn't an FFC be needed for that? And if it is not "activated" at this time, would a future update do that?

Skype mobile is either for calling another Skype user or for IM'ing. If it had skype video like it supposed to be pre-installed like what we saw at CES.

Skype is for more than just video calls. Oh and you picked a great device for your first android phone.
