newbie question

so I managed to install two versions on CM on my DINC and then JB on my Galaxy Nexus. However, I have never updated what I installed before and there are sure to be improved versions of JB in the near future.

My question is do I have to go through the process of reinstalling all my apps and signing into them every time I wipe all my data and install a new version of a rom? this process can take hours and would probably prevent me from installing a new version of a rom unless there was significant enough improvements made to the latest version.

Use Titanium Backup, but only restore user apps and data, never system apps. It will save you quite a bit of time in setting your phone back up.
