Default What's a good SMS app.

Stock text app on the thunderbolt seems slow to send texts. Any apps you can recommend?

Handcent from the Market, very good SMS app.

Note: I think you will have to go into your settings for your stock SMS application and disable notifications or you will receive notifications from both SMS apps.

I also suggest Go SMS. Handcent was very laggy for me.

Go SMS... much better than Handcent... when installing use the Lite version... much quicker and smaller.

Go sms also gives you the option to disable stock sms notifications so you don't have to worry about it.

I will amend my OP, Handcent for the longest time was always the SMS 3rd party app of choice but I see more and more people using Go SMS.

Either way, both have big advantages over the stock SMS.

I first tried Handscent and it was ok, but then I tried Go SMS and have never looked back.

I've used both Handcent and Go SMS. Prefer Go SMS as it has lots of customizations and you can run a light version without all the bells and whistles.

Used Handcent on INC and when I first got the Bolt but once I discovered GO there was no comparison. Agree that the lite option is best for vanilla texters like me. Was so impressed with GO that I now use GO Launcher and Go Contacts. Great stuff and well supported.

Has anyone experienced the the infamous "SMS bug" (text sent to random people on your contact list, instead of intended recipient) on GO SMS?
I have been using Chomp, but it has been giving me problems so I'm looking for a replacement.

I thought that was only a problem with stock SMS apps. I have never experienced it on any phone, and from what I have read, you should not have that problem with any third part apps (Handcent, Go, etc.).

I thought that too, but after looking into it further I have read that some people have been affected using third party apps as well. I read Handscent was one of them, but have not heard about GO, which is why I am asking about this particular app.
