Re: [Instruction] How to Keep Unlimited Data on Verizon
I bought my iPhone 6 via Costco.com. I was able to keep my UDP by using the SIM card from my old phone. I had 1000 texts and hotspot as features on the account. After I activated the iPhone (using the old SIM card) both features -- tests and hotspot -- were still on my account. But, the hotspot would not work. I waited about a week, as some people have posted that the "change order" may automatically drop off after a few days. No such luck. My intention was to remove the broken hotspot feature and then add it back in a few days, but I kept getting an error message saying I should call customer service. I just got off the phone with a Verizon tier 2 tech (as recommended on another forum). The hotspot feature was removed from my account and I still have UDP. I tried to add a free feature (basic visual voicemail) just to see if I could now manage the account online, and I got the same damn error message as before the hotspot was removed. I guess the tech removed the hotspot but not the change order. I guess I'll wait a few days and then call to have the hot spot added back.
I normally only use a couple GB of data per month, but I like UDP so I can tether my iPad when wireless is not available and not have to worry about data. When I travel, I tend to use much more data due to iPad tethering. My daughter is on her grandparents plan and is limited to 2 GB/mo. so she often turns of cellular data and tethers to my phone if we are in the car. If I can't get tethering back on my UDP, I might as well switch to TDP.
