Use mobile browser to access Kindle Cloud Reader (not the Kindle app)

I have a Motorola Atrix 2 (ME865) running 4.0.4. I would love to read Amazon Kindle books from the phone, but the Amazon Kindle app really slows down the phone and drains the battery. I've force stopped the app repeatedly, but it always restarts during the day.
The browser-based Kindle Cloud Reader (KCR) won't load on my mobile browser, saying I need to download the Android app. I've tried downloading a Flash apk and using some different allegedly Flash-compatible browsers. The closest I've gotten was using "Now Browser" with a desktop user agent string which allowed me to log into KCR, but all I got was a blank screen. Not sure if it's a flash problem or incorrect user agent.
I'd appreciate any ideas. Thanks.
