I continue to be really, really frustrated with how bad Swype is at figuring out what word I am swiping. I've been using it for a long time, at least a year and a half. I still think it's better than tapping, and I haven't become enamored of SwiftKey or the other options, but I am SICK of it putting in low-frequency words for some really common ones, like "toy" for "you", and truly ridiculous words for other common ones, like "egger" for "every", or "Niue" for "now". Sometimes I look at the path of my swipe, and I can SEE that I touched every letter in the word, and my intended word is NOT EVEN IN THE LIST. Why, why, WHY does it not have even a shred of smarts in this regard? Why doesn't it use word frequency data, or my own usage data, or knowledge of what part of speech must come next, or ANYTHING? All that, AND you can't even remove those ridiculous words from its dictionary??? Rrrggg. The iPhone's algorithm is really good, from the limited experience I have with it, and I don't understand why Swype is so bad, and why more people aren't annoyed about it. Would somebody please enlighten me?

I find Swype's prediction to be pretty good. I think its most annoying feature is its desire to auto-correct words I spell out.

Maybe the reason there aren't more people complaining about it is because most people don't have a problem with it.

I agree that Swype has its issues. I hate how when I swype "me" it puts in "Mr" and I can't make swype figure out that I almost NEVER say "Mr".

But compared to TouchPal, SlideIT and Android Gesture Typing I prefer Swype by a pretty good margin. SlideIT is a Swype clone and not a good one at that. Android Gesture is a great start, but having that huge screen to select from when correcting seems intrusive and only three word choice options compared to Swypes 5-10 on the ribbon feels limited.

Kind of excited to see Swiftkey Flow to be honest.

My opinion is that Swiftkey gets worse in its predictions over time. Ive now freshly downloaded Swiftkey Swype (beta) and the predictions when typing or swyping are way better that on the Swiftkey X which Ive been using for about 6 months now. However I often use Swiftkey to correct the beginning of my words, but in this case it ends up having a bunch of inadequate words in its dictionary.
One thing thats really annoying in German theres aber which means but - and every time the prediction for Acer comes up first. However having two languages setup (English and German) works just great on Swiftkey!

To me Swype has been better than any of the other keyboards that have the slide feature. Even better than the new swiftkey flow. Maybe I'm just used to it. But for me I always come back to swype after trying a new one.

I agree completely. I constantly get crap like "pongee" when typing "one" wtf is that? that will never be correct. never. why can't I delete that from my Swypes dictionary? It has a ton of weird words and proper nouns that I would never use. I hate it. Oh and I get "o" all the time when trying for "I". It's definitely dumbware.

It's awesome for me. Love how it learns how I type. Love not having to type at all for common things I say.

I'm huge on swype. I've basically forgotten how to type any other way. My Galaxy s3 the swype was very good. I could largely swype without looking at the keyboard. Now that I've upgraded to the s6 the swype function beyond HORRIBLE. I'm not sure what they did but not only can it not predict really naif (<----here is an example, I swyped "basic" and i get naif... i have no idea what naif is), but it also isn't close with drop down options. This being an example again, if you look at the words "naif" and "basic" you see is the same pattern, yet of the nine words it was guessing i swyped, basic wasn't one of them. In fact non of the nine words would be words I'd ever use in any context.

You used to be able to add and take out words, now that function is gone. It's clearly a new system and they totally whiffed. It is beyond awful. I hope they fix this, because it's completely unfunctional.

You can still take out words. When you enter a word, it shows suggestions on the bar above. Press and hold on the word to remove, and you'll get a prompt to remove it from the dictionary.

My biggest two gripes with Swype is i can't ever type "to" without getting some other arcane word instead, like TICK, which isn't even close to the same path. The other thing is lately, I always get the upside down question mark, like in spanish. I go back and correct it, and then it's fine, but it's a real pain in the neck.

It's 2016 and it still has this problem. What the hell is Syu anyways? At least I can delete it from the dictionary, which I just did.

Sadly, that is all it does well, come up with arcane words or words that are not even words.

I loved it on my Note 2. It was great from the getgo. Now the last 6 months the the S6 Edge Plus, it has been torture. It now does not even know what Kakao Talk. On the Note, the first time I swyped Kakao, Talk came right up. Now, it's hopeless.

I'mt starting to really dislike the phone.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that finds SwiftKey swipe predictions poor at best and just down right ridiculous at worst! It predicts low frequency words by default (as indeed you mention) can not imagine why? As such it is almost unfit for purpose in my opinion.

That would be wrong since my galaxy s5 never had an issue, but my brand new s7 edge can't stay out of other languages while set to our Americanized English. Get a brain rathere than being a ****.
I have to press each letter with this garbage now after being so used to such a great out of date phone. Oh and then in the middle of sentences we like to just throw randomized words together and makes no sense. Example, "we can't make it, Madison works otherwise in boot." Make any sense? We could = in boot
I also get the exact same instances described above and even more. I am tired of being told I am wrong by an electronic that is never correct with it's autocorrect. Heck my brand new phone had words that aren't even english in any way popping up. Proper nouns are probably the worst at showing up.
