Hey all. I want to start backing up my photos to the cloud using Google Photos. I have one big problem/question though.

In the past few years I've had multiple android phones, and often a few replacement models of the same phone. Every time I get a new phone I just take my SD card out and put it in the new one. Thus, I have a lot of photos that have the same file name, like img_0001. How does Photos handle this? I know it looks at the Exif data to determine if a photo was saved with two different file names, it won't upload the same image twice. But how does it handle same file names? Will it skip all other instances of img_0001? If so, should I get a batch renamer program and just rename them all based on file date?
