[SOLVED]

I did a search and couldn't find anything close to my issue. I would appreciate any help I can get here.

Phone: HTC Thunderbolt
Problem App: News and HTC News Widget won't update
Consequence: Constant Polling for news is eating the battery alive

My news has not updated since yesterday morning. The HTC News widget is constantly trying to update and its killing my battery life.

Also the News app keeps opening by itself. I will be playing a game or sending a text and it will just pop open. Its like its saying "I'm screwed up and I need your attention".

I have 4 feeds and they all have 99+ next to them. This makes me think that I need to mark them as read or something but that would take forever.

I have tried rebooting and a full shutdown.

I have Astro installed. Is it possible to go to where the program is installed and delete a cache file or something?

Thanks for the help.

Google is my friend. I found the solution here.

Basically I disabled sync for HTC News. Then I downloaded another news app from the market (Minimalistic News) and synced it with my Google account. For some reason HTC News is working now even though its sync is turned off.

Very Strange.
