Open apps disappear from list

[Android Central Question]

So you know how you hit the button on the lower right and it shows all your open apps? Stuff I had open just disappears from there and I have to keep going back to my home screens and reopening apps I was already using. This is incredibly frustrating and never happened on any other android phone I've owned including two Z3 compacts. What's going on here?

Welcome to Android Central! Were you just using the apps, or had you already opened several apps since then? When you open the app, does it open right where you left off, or is it a fresh start for the app?

Which phone are you using now -- is this also a Z3 Compact, or something else?

You don't see any recent apps in memory?
