How best to set up Pixel 4a from Pixel 1?

[Android Central Question]

Google sends a small cable to attach to both, the new phone to the old.
I don't think I want all the old stuff.. how should I set up my new Pixel 4a in order to avoid this ?

There is an app to do this. Does it provide for more user decisions and choices ?

You can do by cable or cloud back up , I don't think you have option to choose what you want put from the back up , its not like Samsung where it would give choices.

Welcome to Android Central! In the Setup Wizard, you should have the option to restore from a previous backup. I think you'll be able to select your 1st gen Pixel backup, and then select which apps to restore. (I just did a factory reset of my Pixel C, and that's what I could do -- although this was back on Oreo.)
