reinstall playstore

I had my whatsapp declared obsolete on 04.08.14 I uninstalled the same and when i tried to reinstall, the play store doesn't open up, the same with g mail . My mobile is Samsung

I'm not sure I follow what you're saying. So you uninstalled your old WhatsApp from your phone--when you tried to reinstall, are you saying you tried to do it via the Google Play Store? What would happen when you tried to open Play Store--an error message? Does the phone freeze? Does nothing happen at all?

Does this persist even after rebooting the phone?

I had the same problem..Go to Manage Application (in settings) and uninsatll any Play Store update. After that click the Play Store button in the menu and Play Store will automatically update
