Hey, I've been having terrible problems with charging and using my S3 over the past montn. I've tried using different batteries, chargers, cables, and outlets. I get very little usage maybe about 5 hours if im lucky and it charges incredibly slow. I've even done a factory reset and cleaned the charging port with a needle. NOTHING WORKS.

My main question is, what does my picture mean? I charged my phone for about 8 hours and it said "100%" (while off) and when I turned it on it said 9%. I unplugged it 4 hours later while it still said 9% and at some point it jumped to 67% and dropped to dead in about an hour. Why is the charging line red?

I'm not sure how battery stats are captured when the phone is off, so I'm not sure what this is showing. One possibility is that your battery is simply worn out. They don't last forever. How old is your battery, and is it the original Samsung battery, or an aftermarket one?

I'd suggest charging to 100% with the phone plugged in, then unplug and use normally until the battery drops to 50% or less. Then post a screenshot like the one above, and also the screen before that one, that shows what programs are using battery.

Thanks meyer, the battery I am using right now is exactly 4 days old and my other one is about 10 months. Another problem I have is it will not charge too much. The most I could get after about 16 hours of charge while on was 18%. I'm starting to think it may be a problem with the phone.

I agree with meyerweb. Definitely looks like a bad battery. You can get a replacement for pretty good prices online. Just make sure it's an OEM battery and not a third party one.
