I'm considering returning my m8 for randomly dropping signal. I live in a fringe area but have always been able to get good signal with the gs5 and the moto x. Not so with the HTC. Really thinking about returning the m8 and getting the g3 . Question is well the g3 have better reception?Any one have relative experience with any of the mentioned phones?Any thoughts?

Each phone is different (meaning each M8, each G3), but if a G3 worked in your area before, a G3 should work now. If the G3 just barely worked before, getting one with just a hair less sensitivity may not work.

We ARE talking about the same carrier in both cases, right? Because if you switched carriers, that could be your problem.

I don't think any of us could say with much confidence that this or that device would work well in your area, whether a device with a good reputation for radio or not. It might be wise to stick to the devices you mention as being good.

Perhaps also, unless you're in a remote area, you could ask around the neighbourhood if you really want try another device, but if it's a fringe area, that might not be much good unless other users of the device are very close by and using the same carrier.

Presumably, the SIM in your HTC is good?

If you're in a really fringe area for your carrier, the best "fix" is to find a carrier that has a good signal in the areas you need covered. If a phone with a fairly deaf receiver won't work where you need coverage, you're on the wrong carrier. (Yes, it can cost an ETF, but that's better than carrying around a phone-shaped rock in your pocket - you're paying every month for service you can't get.)

Not sure about the SIM. It's brand new,2 days old. The phone when in a very good signal area constantly fluctuates signal, anywhere from 85dbs to 105dbs. That's in a very good signal area.
