Hello I have a Samsung galaxy S3 -as of yesterday I have never had problems with my phone (except broken screens) then yesterday it started acting weird it began with pink lines all of sudden coming on my screen, then the touch screen not working -currently its fully charged when its plugged into the charger sometimes you can get a full picture on the screen but the touch screen doesn't work, when its not plugged in I cant get the screen to show up - although the back bluelights are on. Not sure what do to tried some youtube videos (1 minute without battery, take off screws and see if the screen is lose) with no help. Looking for any advice. Thank you!

Welcome to Android Central! It sure sounds like the screen is failing. You mentioned broken screens in the past--were they fixed? If so, how long ago? Also, any water exposure?

this started and then I changed the screen thinking that this could be causing it but there was no change in function (I have a blue Samsung, so I have been taught how to do so) ; no water exposure
It is just really weird its functioning except you cant see the screen and when you can see the screen which is when its attached to the charger then the touch screen is not working

It's a bad screen, a bad cable or connector (or one not fully connected) or a problem on the motherboard. The only way to tell which it is, is to put it on the bench and test it.

No light coming through the screen is the LED layer and, of course, no touch action is the touchscreen layer. But that doesn't narrow it down any.

From my understanding, that means that your phone's functionality is working fine but your screen is failing, it may be broken I guess. Did this begin to happen out of the blue?

Pretty good diagnostician - most people don't have spare motherboards to test with. I'd agree that it's either the cable, the connector or the screen.

Thanks!! How can I test those to figure out which one? unfortunately the one I had changed it to has a really bad screen and is not really functional.

The same way - substitute known-good parts.
