Is there a reason a keypad should be replaced with a microphone?

Keypad replaced with microphone so can't log onto phone

Hi, I've got a user whos got a HTC One M7, last night he was asked to download an update and did. Since then when trying to unlock the phone, the keypad to enter his password has been replaced by a microphone icon, so the user can't log onto the device. Has anyone seen this before? Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

Since he downloaded the update from (I assume) his carrier, it's their problem. Tell him to bring the phone to the carrier and please fix their OTA (over the air) update's mess.

Odds are the selected keyboard was changed due to something that occurred in the update (for example, the default keyboard being updated). What you are seeing sounds like Google Voice Typing is displaying. You should be able to switch the input method by pulling down the notification bar while the microphone is appearing to change the input method.
