I have a Note 8.0 gtn5110 and am thinking of upgrading to a Tab S. Is it possible to transfer my apps and settings across to my new device without re-downloading everything from Play Store or using wifi (wifi is too unreliable)? I know that there are sync options for some apps but these require wifi.

Ideally I would like to transfer everything across (including app settings). The OS versions will be different (from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2) but the devices are both Samsung.

I can presumably transfer the SD data (photos, music, docs) by moving the card or using the USB. My current device is not rooted and will remain so.

    Can anyone advise.

Try using Kies for photos, contacts, etc (but not apps): How do I Transfer Content between two Samsung devices using Kies 2.6? : Cell Phones | Samsung.

You could try using Helium to backup your apps and app data, then restore them to a different device.

I'd run WiFi File Transfer on one and a browser on the other. No need to get a computer involved.

Thanks for your replies. The music and pictures are no problem as I can switch the SD card or use a usb or Kies via my laptop. It is the apps and their settings that I am concerned. I have done factory reset with backup and restore in the past (using Kies). Is it possible to backup the Note 8 and then restore it to the new tablet?

App Backup & Restore for the apps or Helium for apps and data.
