Do I need an app to play music off of my SD card?

I'm trying to read an SD card on my Samsung tap pro...I put a check on my SD card from my pic then I put the SD card into my tap, the file is there but I can't seem to play the music. . Is there a app for that? Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Sorry, I don't quite understand. What do you mean by putting a check on your SD card from your pic? Is it a picture or a music file?

Not all music player apps can access the SD card. Which music player app are you using? If the stock Music app and Google Play Music both can't see the file, try other music apps like PowerAmp, Rocket Player, or Player Pro.

I have Poweramp, on my Samsung Galaxy S5, with lollipop 5.01 OS. Poweramp, will play my Google Play Music that's on my 64gb SD Card but it will not show Artist Name, Track Title or Album Art. Do you know how to correct this and if not can you point me to someone who can. I'm a Newbie to Android Central.
