Cell Radio always onwifi only tablet, Battery. Airplane mode no use

Hi,
Cannot switch off or turn off cell radio. It's a wifi only tablet.
IT is Ikon Tablet 7inch wifi only tablet,
the software is android 4.2.2
Firmware 1.2_20130712
Build no: A20_K701C.20130718

Model no:k701c
it has got 2500mAh battery, but hardly lasts an hour of continuous usage.
The main problem shown by battery graph is the cell radio, consuming over 60% battery and other things like tablet idle and screen about 20%... 30%

I have also asked for a new device in exchange due to poor battery performance. the seller did replace but even the new tablet that came in replace has the same problem.

My request is that how can i get my android (software) to believe that there is no point in searching for networks and pumping battery charge to find signal.
so if there might be a way to tweak the software. i believe that's what might solve the problem.

Welcome to Android Central! It sounds like poorly designed firmware, which isn't that surprising for an off-brand device like that. What happens when you turn on Airplane Mode? Or are you saying that Airplane Mode does nothing to stop the Cell Radio?
