AC Question

I'm new to android. I've bought a Galaxy S4, all my previous cellphones were Iphones. Someone at the store told me to download to application Battery Doctor. I barely use my phone outside of texting and phone call. When I use the Battery Doctor app, it says that I've about 30 to 40 app running at the same time. Everytime. I don't understand. Most of the time, the phone as been in my pocket for an hour without me touching it.

Is it normal?

Almost all of those apps are not actually running. They are only cached in memory for quick retrieval. They are inactive and not using any power.

Like neonworm said, don't worry about it. Let Android handle things as it was designed to do. Relax and enjoy your phone.

However, you should be worried about Battery Doctor. It is absolutely horrible, a worthless piece of trash, and that's being kind. Uninstall immediately!

Android since v1.0. Linux user since 2001.

-1 for Battery Doctor (meaning +1 for not using it). I've made it a point that if it's written by Cheetah, I don't install it. Many of their apps demonstrate that they're writing apps for a system that works the way Windows works - and Android is just about the opposite of Windows in many ways.

If you want a battery monitor app, use GSam Battery Monitor.
