how can i connect my asus zenfone 5 to the internet

i normally get stuck at the tail end of the process, the process is as follows:

settings
more
mobile networks
access point names
sim 1 sim 2
then unfortunately, settings has stopped


can anybody help

Is this a new phone? Do you mean that you are getting a message 'Unfortunately, Settings has stopped', or similar? You could try dealing with that by going to Settings, Storage, Cached Data, and clearing the cache.....but it should not be necessary on a new device.
