Why can't my Android's camera save to a USB attached HDD?

why can't android's camera save to a a USB attached HDD

I formatted a fresh external 320GB hdd and hooked it up but it won't let me select it's as a place to save for pictures or video? I can create files on it through file explorer and all. Any ideas? Thanks!

Welcome to Android Central! Camera apps are typically coded to either save photos to Internal Storage or to the microSD card (if available). They're not coded to include attached USB drives, probably because that situation is very uncommon.
