Two Camera Folders?

Why are my pics going into two different folders, both called "Camera"? It is almost random where they go into a one for a while, then go into the other for a while and flip back and forth. How can I get the phone to just put them into one folder all of the time?

Same camera app or different camera apps? If you have a /DCIM/Camera folder in internal storage (the default) and another /DCIM/Camera folder on the SD card (which many people do), their full names are different, so they'll show as 2 albums, both named Camera. (The full names have to be different - you can't have 2 folders of the same name in the same place.)

Agree--use a file manager app like ES File Explorer to find out where those two Camera directories are located.

Both are names exactly the same "Camera". You may have hit on something because one is internal the other on the SD Card, but what determines which they are saved to? It is completely random and changes back and forth between the two...

It certainly shouldn't switch like that. One possibiity is that the SD card is set as default, but it might be unmounting and re-mounting on its own, perhaps due to a loose connection. When it unmounts, any photo taken would go to Internal Storage. But once the card is remounted, subsequent photos would go to the SD card.

The next time you notice a photo has saved to Internal Storage, immediately go to Settings>Storage, and see if the SD card is still registering.

same me thing is happening to my phone! phone and SD card are less than a month old. Saves picture to whatever camera folder it wants to at random?

My Samsung phone has 2 "Camera" folders. Select a photo in the gallery and select the menu then details. Shows that one is on phone and other is on SD card.
My camera app is setup to store on the SD card. I noticed that all pictures I took of contacts from within the contacts app are stored on the phone Camera folder instead of the SD card . So it is most likely that it is the storage location of individual apps that decides where the photos are stored.
I also noticed that if I used the Turbo Scan app and said save to gallery it put the pictures in the camera's Camera folder.

Yes, "camera" is one of the many folders that can be repeated on the internal storage and the SD card.

Yes, the individual apps control where they store pictures and other media. Some apps give you a choice between the SD card and internal storage. Apps that do not give a choice use the internal storage.
