Samsung Galaxy Prevail Boot Without Battery?

I just got a few Samsung Galaxy Prevails (Boost Mobile branding) and none have batteries. I can't get any of them to boot. Is that expected? Do they need a battery to boot? I was hoping to run them off of usb.

USB won't give you enough power to run the phones. Plug in a 1 Amp or better charger and they might run. (The Note 3 runs fine with the 2 Amp charger it comes with - the prevail needs a lot less current.)

If you want to go cheap, you can get a battery for the Prevail for under $3. If you want an original Samsung battery, it's $4.25.
