My headphones don't work with the aarp real pad tablet, why?

A

AC Question

I tried 2 pair of headphones. Neither pair work with the real pad tablet by aarp. Everything else works. There is sound coming out of the speakers but not the headphones.

Welcome to Android Central! Do those headphones work on other devices? This may be a silly question, but are you sure you pushed the plug all the way in, until you felt or heard it click? Some jacks can be pretty tight, which makes the user a little hesitant to push too hard out of concern something might break.

Also make sure there isn't any debris in the jack. Use a damp toothpick to root around, or a can of compressed air to blow it out.

Are you using headphones designed for Apple products? Those tend to work with only Apple products properly, but not with Android, Windows Phone or Blackberry, due to Apple's use of proprietary hardware.
