AC Question

I have a Sony Experia S.
The power button is completely dead and I don't want to repair it.
If my phone empty its battery I will not be able to power it on again.
At the moment it is on and I wonder if I could reassign the power button to another button, say volume, not to just light up the screen but to actually power on the phone when it is off.
There are many software out there but they just seem to be bale to light up the screen, not to power up the phone.

What can I do?
Thank you!

You would need to be rooted in order to do this. Even then, from what I understand, button remapping can be kind of tricky, not to mention unreliable.

Honestly, to even do what you want wouldn't the power button need to be working. You have to charge it and turn it on so with no working power button you it won't turn on?

I have no issue in going into rooting the phone.
I could manage to power it on, I have been dramatic before because it is not viable to go to a technician each time, but I could do it once as part of the "healing" process.

what do I do? so really I can root it and have another button to be the new power button, able to power on the phone from off, not just to light up the screen when in standby?

Power on is a hardware function, you can't map another button for power in most (if not all) phones. The power button assembly for that phone is under $10, so a repair shouldn't be very expensive (if I were still in business I'd probably charge about $25 including the part - I could get rich doing power switches in that phone all day at that price).
