Why is Galaxy s3 is still producing static after headphone component was replaced?

I dropped my s3 in water and since I have had no problems apart from the headphone jack producing static when headphones are plugged in (no other sound issues at all). I bought a replacement headphone jack piece for the phone thinking this would solve the problem but it's the exact same! Is there anything else i can try?

Welcome to Android Central! Water damage can be pretty insidious. It's probably more than just the headphone jack--the circuitry related to the jack may be affected.
