Why won't my S4 Mini allow me to record videos?

Hi, this is a recent problem I have been having. I open my camera, and switch to the video setting. It starts recording but, once I press the stop button, the whole application freezes, and I have to restart my phone. When I turn my phone back on, I see the video was never saved. Also, I have sufficient storage so I'm not understanding why this is happening. Any ideas as to what I could do please?

Are you recording the video to a micro SD card that is in the phone or to the internal storage?
