HTC Transfer Tool on Sony Xperia Arc stops working and closes

[AC Question]

I am attempting to transfer messages only from my Sony Xperia Arc to an HTC One M8 using the HTC Transfer Tool app. Whenever I select messages and then hit "transfer" the app crashes and closes, everytime!

Is it supposed to connect to a hotspot? If not how do I disable that? I thought both phones just need to be connected to the same wireless network? What else could be the problem as I'm over it!

Hope someone can help.

Rebooting worked, thankyou. Although now I do not know where the messages have stored as they are not in my message folder. the HTC confirmed that the transfer had completed.
