Has anyone used the HTC wireless data-transfer-tool when upgrading from the M7 to M8?

I just got my new M8 in the mail today and have two concerns:

1) How to transfer all my basic data over (although I do use Exchange)
2) Transferring Apps and App Data

I know HTC has a wireless-transfer-tool.

Has anyone used it and what was your experience?

Google will transfer the settings of your phone?? I had no idea...
How does that work?

Also, I was under the impression that when I signed into the Google Play store on the new phone, it would automatically download all of MY APPS.
That didn't happen.

I had to manually re-install each one...

It downloads all your apps and in Lollipop, sets up their location exactly as you had it. Settings, no you're right.

Too late now I think if you didn't have it on before but Settings -> Backup & Reset -> Automatic Restore (turn on).

App data, no, except for Google apps, which are all cloud based.
