Why does Samsung Kies mini say my phone already has the latest firmware?

Hello, I have a problem upgrading my Samsung galaxy s (model no. SGH-T959V) when connected to Kies mini. When I open the application, it says: Firmware version: latest version. And below it, it says: Firmware Upgrade: 11/11/15. I have not messed with the clock in any way. I know the latest firmware is (I think) 5.1, but when I check my phone, it still says version 2.3.6. Can someone please help me with this problem, it would help so much.

The T959v is a 4 or 5 year old phone there is no way it gets stock original firmware kit Kat or lollipop.

I believe 2.3.6 is the last stock version.

I don't know why it shows firmware upgrade 11/11/15.

The only way you can get an update would be by rooting / custom rom.... But even then I don't know if they still develop for your T959v (making new roms)
