My Galaxy S5d oes not recognize my default choices ??

When I tap a link which requires a browser to open, I am asked to choose which browser I want to use, Chrome or the device browser. If I choose Chrome, I am then adked if I want to use it just once or always. If I choose always, it tells me to go to settings and make Chrome my default browser. But I have already chosen it as my default. How can I make my default choices work?
