App creen scrolls differently since factory reset + restore

[AC Question]

I reset and then restored my Nexus 5 today.

Prior to restoring, the App screen let me scroll left and right to swipe between the icons. Now since restoring the App screen scrolls up and down with a Search Apps box at the top of the screen.

My Nexus 9 tablet swipes left and right.

All updates etc installed.

Any ideas why the App screen scrolls up and down now instead of right and left.

That change came with latest Google app update.

Was it? I had all of the latest updates for everything installed before restoring. It swiped left/right before and up and down after.

Some people said that the changes only applied after a power off. Are you using the Google Now launcher in both devices?
