I found my kid's old Nexus and plugged it in.
Unfortunately, the home screen has some kind of infinite overlay. Among other things, that makes it all but impossible to get into any apps or settings in order to disable it.
It took several minutes of swiping right to get rid of the few saved apps that started during the boot, but I'm not able to do anything else. The screens are all live mirrors of the main screen, so that if I swipe down for instance, then the top bar appears for a second in all the screens. However, it doesn't stay down so I can't connect it to wifi or anything else.
A bunch of swiping up does eventually unlock the home screen, but I can't click on any of the icons there either.
The text in the top left says: Overlay #1 1920x1080, 320 dpi
