How come I can't add any contact on Moto x pure edition?

I heard android is better(compare to Apple), but it wont even let me add contact without forcing me to log on to google!

Welcome to Android Central! Where else would you like to add a contact? I would strongly recommend against trying to add a contact that is only locally stored (the "Phone Account"), since that account doesn't sync or backup automatically anywhere. If you don't back it up regularly, then you'll lose those contacts if something happens to the phone. We see lots and lots of posts here about that very problem. If you enter your contacts into your Google account, then that information is synced immediately to your Google Contacts in the cloud, and easily accessible from any device that you log into with your account. They're also kept safe in the cloud.

If you really don't want to use your Google account, then does it give you an option to enter the contact into the Phone Account?
