My phone volume jumps up in the middle of phone calls

I have a Galaxy s6. I find that after I lower the volume during a phone call, it sometimes randomly jumps back up. (This is reflected not just by the sound's getting louder, but by the little volume slider having moved right when I go to turn the volume down again.) This is to say: it's not just that I'm getting a better connection or something; the phone is changing its volume setting. Is there a way to correct this? Does anyone understand why it's happening?
