Do contacts from Nexus 5 auto-sync when there's no option to do that while adding the contact?

AC Question

Hi I have a nexus 5 that I lost a day ago and i am looking to get an Android/Apple phone soon. I have a lot of contacts on the phone and whenever I used to add new contacts it never gave me an option to save it on phone or sum or somewhere else. Does that mean all contacts are on the Google drive by default? Will I be able to recover all my contacts when I get a new phone and set it up with my android account?

Welcome to Android Central! The default account should be your Google account. Nexus devices don't have a local Phone account (thank God!). But for those contacts to have been backed up to your Google Contacts in the cloud, Auto-Sync would've had to be on before you lost the phone.

On your computer browser, go to contacts.google.com. Do you see those contacts there? If they're all there, then they'll also be synced to any new device that you're logged into with your Google account.
