how to backup a Motorola xoom

I have a original Motorola Xoom and it is getting very slow. I need to do a factory reset but need to save the apps I have downloaded. Please let me know how to backup my apps.

Your Google Play Store account will have record of what apps you've downloaded. If you have the box checked in Backup & Reset to back up apps, it will remember which ones you actually had installed. When you set up the device after reset, you can select to restore your apps automatically rather than manually reinstalling every one.

What this does NOT do is back up the data within the apps, you would need a 3rd-party app (Helium seems to be popular) to do this.
