why is there a pop-up ever time i unlock my phone?

I have an HTC one m8 with lollipop, and every time I unlock my phone I pop up comes up that says it cleared x amount of memory. It also says I have x amount available, as well as an ad. It just started doing this a few days ago, and i dont think I downloaded an app that would do that. What is it?

To test that, boot into Safe Mode.

Welcome to the forums! That sounds like an ad coming from a cleaner app or some kind of memory booster. Do you have any app by Cheetah Mobile or DU installed in your phone? If so, I'd recommend you to uninstall it, they use to do more harm than good.

I had an app a few months ago that was supposed to clean up my phone, but I deleted it. And this started less than a week ago, so I don't think that is it

I did, and everything looked ordinary. No third party apps that I think would cause that
