need help with android car stereo and external hd

hi. I recently purchased a pumpkin 6.2 car stereo with 4.4 android on it. I also have a 1 tb western digital external hard drive I put songs and videos on. I hooked it up today and It started to read my device. after a few minutes my system crashed and was stuck on my loading screen for a long while . after a good scare my car stereo finally loaded up correctly again. so before I try again I was hoping for some advice on what I did wrong or what I could do to get this to work .. also converted the external HD to fat32. Not exactly sure if I did it right . Just fallowed the steps I seen on a YouTube video. Thanks

Could be a power issue. You could try with something like this http://www.amazon.com/Power-Enhance...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUacUvbUpU5169594 connected to a power bank as well as the stereo.
