Phone freezes, has a bad component.

AC Question

I have a Samsung Galaxy Core Prime. The service is through Metro PCS. When I turn on my phone, it gets as far as the Metro PCS screen, and freezes up right there. I am told by the associates in the store that this is actually a common issue with this particular model phone. The issue is that a part inside has gone bad, and must be replaced to make the phone operational again. I have aquired another phone, same make and model, that is broken, but has many salvageable parts and components. All parts on the phone, except for the screen and case are re-useable. What I need to know, is exactly WHAT part is it that went bad, and where in the phone is it located? I am very capable of doing the repair myself, but I need to know which component am I replacing? Thank you.
