Why isnt my home and lock screen button working?

I set my phone to charge overnight, yesterday my home and lockscreen buttons were working. This morning when i went to use my home button it wasnt working so i reset it and the problem was still occuring. Throughout the day my lock screen button stopped working as well so I reset it again and it works temporarily and i have to reset it again if i want to unlock my phone it lasts for about 2-3 minutes. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.

Welcome to Android Central! When you say you reset it, do you mean a factory reset, or a simple reboot?
