Encryption failed.

AC Question

Since today I have been getting the following error message on my device:

"Encryption failed.

Unable to complete encryption due to interruption. Perform factory data reset (erasing all your data) before use. After resetting, try encrypting device again."

I am not sure what causes this, as my phone was working fine yesterday.
I am also unable to boot into download mode due to my volume up key not working.
 
Welcome to Android Central! Which phone do you have? Did you or someone else try to encrypt the phone, or did this seem to come out of nowhere?

Download Mode on Samsung phones is reached by pressing Power and Vol Down, not Vol Up. Are you talking about Recovery Mode?
 
Ok--I'm going to close this thread, then, and direct people to respond in your other thread in the S3 forum. This is to prevent parallel discussions from occurring.
